Original title, I know.

What happens tomorrow, the date specified above, could be all good - or it could be all bad. Or it could be a combination of the two.

As always, the night before any procedure that involves anesthesia, my mind races from one end of the spectrum to the other. Especially because, several times, I have had difficulty coming out of anesthesia.

Tomorrow's procedure is something called an endoscopic ultrasound, or EUS, and is being done to get a better view of my pancreas, and common bile duct, which is enlarged. Biopsies can also be done at this time if needed. Not being able to have an MRI due to the vagus nerve stimulator in my chest, the EUS is the only other option available for this purpose. Well, unless they slice me open.

I had been hoping and praying that Henry would be able to come into town for a few days to go with me, however, his work has taken him out of the country and he is unable to do so.

I had wanted to keep my Dad and stepmom out of this until it was over because they don't need the added stress of worrying about me. Unfortunately, I had to get my stepmom involved because someone has to be at the hospital with me during the procedure, and someone has to drive me home afterward. I asked her not to tell my dad about this, and I hope she honored that request.

Right now, all I want is to feel better. I hope that isn't too much to ask.

Breathe...

...breathe out...breathe in...breathe out...

Two days and a wake-up and I will be under a scalpel. Again. The knot in my stomach is twisting and growing to the point I feel like throwing up.

I am afraid I am putting too much faith that this surgery alleviates 'some' of the depression I have been buried under for too long. There are research studies showing that this DOES happen - just not for everybody. I feel the same amount of faith that my energy will, well, that I might actually have some. Energy. Finally. It is as though I have been sleeping through life. Scratch that - I HAVE slept most of my life away.

Now I pray, with everything I have, that a voice will emerge from somewhere in the darkness and tell me, "Everything will be okay".

Will it?
